As new therapies emerge, they often require changes to the systems and processes that deliver care to patients. In this panel, we'll explore how payors and providers are evolving their models to bring new therapies and standards of care to patients on the ground. Panelists will share insight into where they are building new capabilties, challenges and opportunities they're seeing as new therapies emerge, and how they're working to ensure equity in access to innovations among their patient populations.

RUSHIKA FERNANDOPULLE m.d., m.p.p. | Co-founder, Iora Health; former Chief Innovation Officer, One Medical

Rushika Fernandopulle is a practicing physician who was the co-founder and CEO of Iora Health, an early innovator in Primary Care redesign. Iora was acquired by One Medical, and then the combined company was acquired by Amazon. Prior to this, Rushika was the first Executive Director of the Harvard Interfaculty Program for Health Systems Improvement and Managing Director of the Clinical Initiatives Center at the Advisory Board Company.  He is a member of the Schweitzer, Ashoka, Aspen, and Salzburg Global Fellowships, and is co-author or editor of several publications including Health Care Policy and Uninsured in America: Life and Death in the Land of Opportunity. He serves on the boards of the Asian American Foundation, Families USA, and Premera Blue Cross. He earned his A.B., M.D., and M.P.P. from Harvard University, and completed his clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

 

cindy bo, mba | Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, Boston Medical Center

Cindy Bo oversees Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS)’s strategic plan and priorities with an emphasis on healthcare innovation, growth, sustainability and community and behavioral health integration as the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer.

Prior to joining Boston Medical Center Health System in 2024, Bo served as the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the Delaware Valley at Nemours, one of the nation’s largest multi-state freestanding pediatric health systems. She also held consulting and business planning roles at Deloitte, Booz Allen, and Novartis AG. 

She is an Aspen Institute Health Innovators Fellow and a Malcolm Baldrige Executive Fellow. She also serves on several distinguished Boards across the United States, including a Board Member for Leadership Delaware, Inc.; The Clinic for Special Children; March of Dimes, Boston; and Children and Families First of Delaware. She is known for her voice in health strategy and implementation, particularly on women and children’s health. She is a national and international speaker, including being a TEDx Speaker and a speaker at Beckers, Modern Healthcare, ACHE and more. 

Bo received her Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, with high distinction, and her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management Information Systems from Binghamton University. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her two sons, Matthew and Lucas, and husband, David.

 

rebecca anastos-wallen, m.d. | National Medical Director, Oak Street Health

Dr. Rebecca Anastos-Wallen is a Primary Care Physician and National Medical Director of Population Health at Oak Street Health, part of CVS Health and a leading value-based primary care organization for adults on Medicare that operates more than 235 primary care clinics across 27 states. In her role as National Medical Director of Population Health, Dr. Anastos-Wallen is the clinical lead overseeing the design and implementation of Oak Street Health's value-based care model. Her scope includes Oak Street Health's national work related to screening and diagnosis, chronic condition management, high-risk patient management, specialty care and partnerships, and prevention of avoidable hospital admissions and readmissions. Dr. Anastos-Wallen also leads Oak Street Health's Central Telehealth and Podiatry clinicians and serves as a PCP for a panel of Oak Street patients in West Philadelphia. Dr. Anastos-Wallen completed her residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. She holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's degree in History from Yale University. Prior to medical school, Dr. Anastos-Wallen worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group for 5 years with a focus on global health. 

 

Erika Pabo, M.D., MBA | Chief Transformation Officer and Central Ops, Centerwell Primary Care, Humana

Erika A. Pabo, MD, MBA is executive leader and entrepreneur with deep experience building, operating, and transforming businesses across the value-based healthcare ecosystem.   This experience ranges across the business development life cycle – from building zero to one to transforming enterprise scaled businesses – all focused on delivering quadruple aim outcomes.

Pabo currently serves as Chief Transformation Officer & Operations Leader for Humana’s Primary Care Organization, the largest senior focused primary care business in the country that operates in market as Centerwell, Conviva and Elite.   In this role, she wears two primary hats: 1) Operations: responsible for the core operations of the business driving $4.3B in revenue and 2) Transformation: ensuring that the business continues to improve its operating leverage as it grows rapidly, as well as innovate as consumer needs evolve. 

Pabo previously served Co-President for the Author business segment which was a dual transformation company incubated and operated as a business segment within Humana.   In this role she built two products, Author by Humana and AuthorCare.  She grew Author by Humana to $160M in revenue and then integrated it into Humana’s core business to serve as the core of enterprise modernization. She also founded and led AuthorCare, a senior focused-behavioral health company, and spun this out into a joint venture, Author Health, fundraising $115M from General Atlantic and Flare and now serves on the board. 

Prior to that she had served as Medical Director for Population Health and Associate Director for Primary Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital System. She continues to serve as Faculty at Harvard Medical School and Associate Faculty at Ariadne Labs and to practice medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Advanced Primary Care, South Huntington

joy qin | m.p.h. class of 2025, harvard t. chan school of public health

Joy Qin is a health management student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Previously, she worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, contributed to the market access program for malaria at the Clinton Health Access Initiative(CHAI), and served as a strategy director at Ping An Insurance. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from UC Berkeley.
